Sept. 6, 2026 | Cupboard Monthly

If you're an early reader, you may have noticed... it's not actually Sept. 6. I'm posting early, as I will be blissfully out of cellphone range on Sunday. Hopefully you will be too. ♥︎
Here's a goofy little poem to kick off your weekend:
Confectionary Drift
By Elle Estérre
My mind, like meringue:
Airy, soft and empty
As I lie afloat
On this gentle river
Toes petting soft water
Pouring through the valley
And my eyes perpendicular
To the blue sky
Today. I can do
Anything, or even nothing!
I am whipped egg
Mom agrees, it’s good
To practice play, splashing
Bobbing in my lifejacket
Doing what I want
We gossip by the
Dock, admiring a red
Pontoon. Did you know
About hot tub boats?
Let’s swim back, or
Perhaps paddle this board
With you hanging onto
The stern. It’s easy.
When we get back,
I’ll have a treat.
Light, lemon, sugary. Just
Like this summer evening.
Making Stuff
It was a very busy month, but I can usually find time for doodles. When in havoc, do something easy.
I hope you're enjoying the final fleeting moments of summer. I sure am.
Passage of the Month
What is the meaning of life? That was all- a simple question; one that tended to close in on one with years, the great revelation had never come. The great revelation perhaps never did come. Instead, there were little daily miracles, illuminations, matches struck unexpectedly in the dark; here was one.
— Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse
